I posted this one year ago and thought I would repost it for this year....yes it's an entirely different year where we may not be gathering in large groups but it is still fun to get into the spirit at home with our family! Here are some ideas for enjoying the game on Sunday....lets make it a memorable experience!
Warning: This party WILL make you the honorary Super Bowl host for years to come
This isn’t a formal dinner party, so don’t limit your guest list…It’s the Super Bowl. It’s meant to be rowdy! Your goal should be to get a noise complaint from your neighbors. Anyone you like hanging out with who’s remotely interested in football, free food or free-flowing booze is invited….Period.
Bring on the Beer and Cocktails
Football wouldn’t be a great American sport without a great American beverage. Before the party, do some research on local beers from the cities of the two teams competing in the big game. Ice down a few 12 packs and surprise your guests with some local and festive flavor. And for those guests that don’t enjoy a cold beer, pick a signature cocktail for each team based on their city, mascot or team colors.
Guests don't want to be bothered with forks when they're busy gesturing at the TV and holding a beer. Set out easy finger foods like chips and dip, nachos, wings, veggies, dry ribs, chicken fingers, finger sandwiches or pinwheels and fun stadium candies like skittles and mini chocolate bars. To be the envy of all your friends (and the star of their Instagram stories) build yourself a snack stadium.
Set the Scene
Make your guests feel like they’re watching the game from the sideline with plenty of creative decorations. From AstroTurf coasters to helmet drink stirrers, decorating for your party can be just as fun as the party itself. Decorate one half of the living room with one team’s colors, and the other half of the living room with the other team’s colors. Your guests can choose where they want to sit and cheer on their favorite team.
Super Bowl Games
Have a couple of fun games with prizes to the winner! We know Super Bowl commercials are as important as the game, so why not make a sport out of the ads? Make bingo cards out of card stock and colored Sharpies using brands, logos and popular commercial themes. Hand them out to your guests and wait to see who gets the first line of five. Or Put your pals to the ultimate test with the mascot matching game.
Make Swag Bags
To help your guests feel extra special, prepare swag bags as a parting gift. Fill them with homemade cookies, candies, Gatorade (to help them replenish!). Pack a mini water bottle in the bag to set them on the fast track to a feel-good Monday morning.
